Findings Before Baking & Mokume Gane

This photo is an example of inserting my handmade findings into my polymer clay pieces before baking them. My usual method was to make a hole for the finding and then bake or make no hole in my pieces and wire wrap after baking.

This simple set was completed in less than 2 hours. No need to wire wrap the pendants or the earrings.

Since I have begun using suede lace in place of chains or nylon string on some of my pieces, this technique is turning out to be quite useful and a great little time saver.

Black & White Mix

One of my clay suppliers had a great sale on black & white. I decided to purchase a pound of each.  When it arrived, I thought, "Now what? What do I want to start with?"   Then, I decided to make some basic canes and apply them to some of my scrap clay.

Even though I'm ready to start creating, my clay isn't.  It's warm and soft.  Cutting soft clay distorts the pattern. Oh well, after an hour in the frig the clay will be ready to cut.  Guess that's it for now.

Coffee Break over.
