Inspiration - Nature Can Inspire

When artist block overrides the senses and the creative juices cease to flow how do you recharge your imagination?

Sometimes I just walk.  I find walking through my neighborhood leaves my soul uplifted and my mind refreshed.

I bring my camera along and snap photo's of plants, flowers interesting people and landscapes.  Basically I'll snap anything I find beautiful.

During my last walk I snapped some photo's of my walking trails. Today, I'm posting a couple of those photo's.

The second photograph is the end of the walking trail. Next time I will take some photographs while it's raining.  The scene during the rain is stunning.

A couple ways I've found inspiration,

  • Just start mixing clay: grab 2 - 4 complimentary colors of 0.5 oz clay.  Chop the clay into small pieces. Mix to blend some of the colors but not all of them. Run all clay's through the pasta machine 10 - 20 times or just use your acrylic roller to flatten. When you are pleased with the results use cutters to cut into the shapes you desire. It may take a little while but the mixed colors and shapes will give you inspiration.
  •  Just start cutting and bending wire: cut several lengths of wire and just started bending them with a pair of pliers. Grab a stone and start wrapping wire around the stone. Wrap several pieces of wire together with a smaller gauge or a different wire color. The point is to continue working the wire until a pattern appears and inspiration is restored.

Now get to stepping!

  1. Beautiful! I live in a concrete jungle. Wish I had hiking trails near my home.
